Abigail, Lisa & Emma Lynn

Lisa A Bono, ACPBC has been involved in aviculture over the past three and a half decades and has been a caregiver to numerous species of parrots during that time. In early 1990, Bono founded the Sussex County Exotic Bird Club in North Jersey, and shortly thereafter, acquired her first African grey parrot, a wild caught Timneh. Her life changed forever. In the fall of 2000, Lisa obtained a baby Congo African grey parrot, which unbeknownst to her, was ill. During his short time on earth, Ms. Bono was thrown into a tumultuous learning curve. With the bird’s passing, Lisa vowed to continue her avian education in order to ensure the best lives possible for African grey parrots everywhere.

Ms. Bono has fulfilled her educational aspirations over the past two and a half decades, at veterinary and behavior conferences, LLP course: Living & Learning with Parrots and hands-on training seminars. She has been mentored by some of the most knowledgeable and well respected veterinarians, scientists, nutritionists and behavior consultants in the field of aviculture. Lisa has written or co- authored articles that have appeared in Bird Talk, Birds USA 2011, MyLifeBook, Birdchannel.com, In Your Flock and various bird club newsletters.

Ms Bono is an Associate Certified Parrot Behavior Consultant with the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, specializing in the African grey parrot. She is a professional member of the International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators, member of the American Federation of Aviculture, volunteer for the Alex Foundation, guest behavior consultant on Africangreys.com and is the Vice President and on the Board of Directors for Parrots At Play, Inc. Lisa is the founder and owner of The Platinum Parrot, a specialty store in New Jersey which is devoted to parrots and the needs of their caregivers. Bono also joined the Association of Avian Veterinarians as an allied professional member in order to continue her education at a whole new level.
